553. Authority of Naval Criminal Investigative Service to investigate sexual harassment Chapter 871 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section: 8750a. Naval Criminal Investigative Service: authority to investigate sexual harassment. (a) In general The Naval Criminal Investigative Service shall be the entity within the Department of the Navy with the sole and exclusive authority to conduct investigations of alleged sexual harassment by members of the Navy or Marine Corps. (b) Sexual harassment defined In this section, the term sexual harassment means conduct that constitutes the offense of sexual harassment as punishable under section 934 of this title (article 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice) pursuant to the regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Defense for purposes of such section (article). .
